It is the main reason\nwhy we experienced low voter turnout&nbsp;because the voters had switched off\nfrom elections and gone on with their daily activities.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Masai also argued that claims of\nvote theft have led to citizens to lose morale on voting since they think that\nwhat happened during presidential elections will happen again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He also requested the IEBC to\nimprove on voter training to educate citizens on the importance of\nvoting.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"960\" height=\"610\" src=\"https:\/\/horizonnews.co.ke\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/284103326_580245706800008_5233008467747673430_n.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2574\" srcset=\"https:\/\/horizonnews.co.ke\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/284103326_580245706800008_5233008467747673430_n.jpg 960w, https:\/\/horizonnews.co.ke\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/284103326_580245706800008_5233008467747673430_n-300x191.jpg 300w, https:\/\/horizonnews.co.ke\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/284103326_580245706800008_5233008467747673430_n-768x488.jpg 768w, https:\/\/horizonnews.co.ke\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/284103326_580245706800008_5233008467747673430_n-696x442.jpg 696w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 960px) 100vw, 960px\" \/><figcaption><strong><code>Cleophas Malala<\/code><\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;IEBC should conduct a serious\nvoter education on citizens to enable them understand the importance of voting,\u201d\nsaid Masai&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At Ekero polling station which\nregistered low voter turnout one of the voters urged his fellow voters to come\nout in large numbers and vote for the next governor.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;I call upon fellow voters to\ncome out in large numbers and vote. Giving up at this point will not enable us\nto get our next governor.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At Mumias West where voting started\nlate due to failure of Kiems kits resulting in voters going back home without\nvoting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Low turnout of voters in Kakamega\nCounty gubernatorial elections has led to early closure of polling stations\ngiving IEBC officials an easy task. I have shared the evidence\nto the relevant authorities, this is an election offence,\u201d&nbsp;said Barasa<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">His sentiments were strongly\ncondemned by Cleophas Malala of ANC who expressed his satisfaction towards how\nIEBC conducted the election.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;As a candidate, I am satisfied\nwith the kind of preparations IEBC took to run this election.&nbsp; Everything\nwent on well, most polling stations were opened at the right time no irregularity\nwas experienced&#8221;, said Malala.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1000\" height=\"750\" src=\"https:\/\/horizonnews.co.ke\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/IMG-20220829-WA0012.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2816\" srcset=\"https:\/\/horizonnews.co.ke\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/IMG-20220829-WA0012.jpg 1000w, https:\/\/horizonnews.co.ke\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/IMG-20220829-WA0012-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/horizonnews.co.ke\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/IMG-20220829-WA0012-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/horizonnews.co.ke\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/IMG-20220829-WA0012-696x522.jpg 696w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1000px) 100vw, 1000px\" \/><figcaption><strong><code>An empty polling station<\/code><\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Malala admitted to conceding defeat\nif he loses to his opponents in a free and fair election.&nbsp; He has also\nurged his competitors to concede too if defeated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Suleiman Sumba, the KANU candidate,\ncomplained of failure of some of the Kiems kits in different polling\nstations.&nbsp; According to&nbsp;him,&nbsp; this led to the delay in the\nvoting exercise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At Mumias Township primary school\npolling station, voting was delayed for over 2 hours before the problem was\nresolved.
