The Kenya Kwanza coalition has scoffed\nat the County Government of Kakamega for blocking them from using Bukhungu\nstadium last Sunday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

They claim that the county had\nrequested for Sh0.9million but declined to take the money at the eleventh hour.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The said stadium was to host Kenya\nKwanza rally a head of Azimio la Umoja – One Kenya rally slated for tomorrow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Kenya kwanza brigade used the\nstadium last month for their rally after paying Sh100, 000 an amount that was\nincreased to Sh900,000.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Despite the sudden increment,\nwe were ready to pay, I had a cheque of 900,000 an amount they have refused on\nallegations of the banks being closed, this was sabotage of the highest\ndegree” said Cleophas Malala, ANC gubernatorial candidate<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Malala said he failed to understand\nwhy the county government sabotaged their rally yet they were ready to adhere\nto the rules by paying the stipulated amount of money required as fee before\nusing the stadium.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“We were blocked from accessing\nthe stadium for our grand rally in Kakamega yet we are bringing revenue to the\ncounty government,” said Malala.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He added: “We were forced hold\nthe rally outside the stadium, we will now share the 900,000 among ourselves,\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Benjamin Washiali, the Mumias East\nMP also criticized the county leadership for inflating the venue fee rising\nclose to a million shillings while their competitors were allowed to use the\nstadium without paying anything.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our efforts to reach the stadium\nmanager was futile as he never picked our calls.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the IEBC statistics,\nKakamega County has a population of 844,709 people registered as voters for the\nAugust 9 election with Malava, Lurambi and Likuyani constituencies respectively\nleading with the highest number of voters in the county.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
