Kakamega <\/code><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

ODM is threatening to remove Prof Philip Kutima as Kakamega Deputy Governor\nafter he defected to DAP-K.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

ODM through Kakamega county youth leader, Moffat Mandela, has asked Kutima\nto resign as deputy governor, failure to which they shall replace him with\nsomeone who is loyal to the party.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe defection of the deputy governor is a cowardly act precipitated by fear of party primaries against candidates who have shown interest in the Kakamega gubernatorial seat in the august elections,\u201d said Moffat<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“We want you (Kutima) to hand in your resignation letter as Deputy Governor failure to which we shall remove you and appoint another loyal ODM member to serve as Deputy Governor,” he added <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Moffat said Kutima is also to be blamed for waning party support in the\ncounty, adding that it is the reason he was removed as ODM county chairman last\nyears.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But Kutima is accusing ODM party top brass in the region of betrayal, citing\nit to be the reason he joined the Democratic Alliance Party of Kenya (DAP-K).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Governor Wycliffe Oparanya, Kutima\u2019s boss is the Deputy Party leader of ODM.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kutima after defecting at Chui House in Nairobi claimed that the party had\nalready a pre-determined candidate and they (ODM) to bury his political\nambitions at the party nominations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI have been loyal to the party for all this years but they shortchanged me\nin favour of another candidate (Fernandes Barasa). They wanted to rig me out\nduring the party nominations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kutima has however maintained that\nhe is still supporting Raila Odinga presidency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the same time, nominated senator\nNaomi Shiyonga officially joined DAP-K party.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Shiyonga also decried betrayal and\nlack of internal democracy as the reason for her defection, saying the party\nsuffocating her in favour of Kakamega Women rep Elsie Muhanda. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the same time, Bungoma Deputy\nGovernor has ditched DP Ruto\u2019s party UDA and joined DAP-K.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He will be vying for the Bungoma\nsenate seat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
