{"id":216,"date":"2020-01-11T08:46:39","date_gmt":"2020-01-11T08:46:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/countysplash.co.ke\/?p=216"},"modified":"2020-01-11T08:46:39","modified_gmt":"2020-01-11T08:46:39","slug":"roll-out-of-grade-iv-curriculum-a-success-says-cs-magoha","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/horizonnews.co.ke\/?p=216","title":{"rendered":"Roll out of Grade (IV) curriculum a success, says CS Magoha"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Kakamega <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">By Wilson Abiri<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Education Cabinet Secretary George Magoha has said that the\nrollout of the Competency Based Curriculum (CBC) for Grade (IV) is a success\nsince everyone has embraced it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Prof Magoha said text books and other learning materials for\nGrade (IV) curriculum has already hit the 100 mark, adding that they had a few\nhiccups but have been sorted out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Education CS addressing the media at Kakamega Primary\nSchool on Friday after inspecting the roll out of the curriculum where said the\nhiccups were due to heavy rains pounding some [parts of the country, making it\ndifficult to distribute books on time in those areas like Turkana.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&nbsp;\u201cAs you can see, CBC\nis running smooth and I\u2019m glad to report that in all the schools I have visited\ntoday I have seen learners who are happy with whatever they are taught. Let us\nall come out and see it for ourselves instead,\u201d Magoha said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"678\" src=\"https:\/\/countysplash.co.ke\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/IMG-20200111-WA0036-1024x678.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-218\" srcset=\"https:\/\/horizonnews.co.ke\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/IMG-20200111-WA0036-1024x678.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/horizonnews.co.ke\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/IMG-20200111-WA0036-300x199.jpg 300w, https:\/\/horizonnews.co.ke\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/IMG-20200111-WA0036-768x508.jpg 768w, https:\/\/horizonnews.co.ke\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/IMG-20200111-WA0036-696x461.jpg 696w, https:\/\/horizonnews.co.ke\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/IMG-20200111-WA0036-1068x707.jpg 1068w, https:\/\/horizonnews.co.ke\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/IMG-20200111-WA0036.jpg 1280w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><figcaption><strong>Education Cabinet Secretary George Magoha addressing the media at Kakamega Primary School on Friday after inspecting the roll out of Grade (IV) CBC curriculum- Photo\/Wilson Abiri\/County Splash<\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Magoha said training of teachers to teach CBC was ongoing\nand that in the month of December last year, the Teachers Service Commission\n(TSC) trained 106,320 teachers in preparation for the roll out of Grade (IV)\ncurriculum.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cOf the teachers trained on CBC curriculum for grade four, 18,000\nteachers were for private primary schools and 7,000 for Special Needs Education\nTeachers,\u201d said Magoha.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Magoha also warned head teachers against sending students\naway to bring money like for lunch and or teachers employed by the board,\nsaying primary school education was free and that every child has a right to basic\neducation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&nbsp;\u201cLet any parent whose\nchild will be sent away to make a report to me and I as Prof. Magoha will take\nthe necessary action to ensure that every child gets the opportunity to\ncontinue with his studies uninterrupted,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He also condemned killing of Ndooni Primary teacher, Daisy\nMbaluka, saying all suspects involved will be prosecuted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u00a0\u201cNo any single person should dare mistreating or slaughtering our teachers because of poor performance like the Kitui incident.
