{"id":2093,"date":"2021-09-27T11:12:22","date_gmt":"2021-09-27T11:12:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/countysplash.co.ke\/?p=2093"},"modified":"2021-09-27T11:12:22","modified_gmt":"2021-09-27T11:12:22","slug":"revealed-what-new-mmust-vc-and-his-deputies-scored-to-secure-the-top-jobs","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/horizonnews.co.ke\/?p=2093","title":{"rendered":"Revealed: What new Mmust VC and his deputies scored to secure the top jobs"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Kakamega<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><code>By Augustine Mulaa <\/code><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Prof Solomon Shibairo emerged the top candidate out of the seven applicants\nwho were invited for interviews conducted by the Public Service Commission (PSC)\nfor the Vice Chancellor position.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Shibairo scored 86.6 per cent beating Professors Mary Abukutsa and Sibilike\nKhamala Makhanu who scored 68 per cent and 66.2 per cent respectively.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The other four applicants were professors Joseph Sarima Chacha, Kenneth\nInyani Simala, Peter Nyamuhanga Mwita and Paul Shiundu Mwanza.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p><code><strong> Shibairo scored 86.6 per cent beating Professors Mary Abukutsa and  Sibilike Khamala Makhanu who scored 68 per cent and 66.2 per cent  respectively. <\/strong><\/code><\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The professor of horticulture and agronomy will now serve as Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (Mmust) for a period of five years between September 2021 \u2013 September 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He becomes the third VC of the institution succeeding the late Prof Fredrick Otieno who was the second VC.
