Lurambi Member of Parliament Bishop Titus Khamala has\nappealed to the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) to work together with elected\nleaders in a bid to improve the standards of education in the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u2018\u2018We have our own children who are trained teachers with TSC numbers seeking employment opportunities but instead TSC employs outsiders on pretense that Kakamega town is cosmopolitan. This is not being tribal but we want our people be given the first priority when it comes to recruitment,\u201d said Khamala. <\/em><\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n
Khamala said TSC has been isolating local leaders when it\ncomes to recruitment, promotions and transfer of teachers especially in Lurambi\nSub County, saying the move has seen people from outside being given plum\npositions at the expense of the locals.<\/p>\n\n\n\nLurambi Member of Parliament Bishop Titus Khamala <\/em><\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

\u2018\u2019If you are a parent and you cannot punish your child and instill good morals in him or her, how do you expect the teachers to correct your child. Corporal punishment is not a solution to the runway runaway indiscipline among students, \u201csaid Khamala <\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n
Khamala was speaking on Monday at Maraba Primary school\nwhile officially opening a Sh14million storey building that houses eight\nclasses. The Lurambi\nlegislator also opposed a proposal to return corporal punishment to schools in\na bid to tame students\u2019 unrest and advised that the government should look for\nalternative ways of solving the problem.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u2018\u2019If you are a parent and you cannot punish your child and instill good\nmorals in him or her, how do you expect the teachers to correct your child.\nCorporal punishment is not a solution to the runway runaway indiscipline among students,\n\u201csaid Khamala <\/p>\n\n\n\nParents and pupils of Maraba primary following the proceedings <\/em><\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n
Khamala urged students to work hard and stop rioting and\nindulging into activities that will ruin their education progress. To have\ndiscipline and take their academic seriously. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Amani National Congress (ANC) lawmaker further said that\nall NG-CDF contracts will be given to the locals saying that was the only way\nto grow the economy and improve their standards of living.<\/p>\n\n\n\nLurambi NG-CDF committe <\/em><\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n
“I like using our local contractors instead of going to\nthe Chinese contractors and giving them contracts thus exporting resources. The\nCounty Government of Kakamega should follow suit and embrace our local\ncontractors,\u201d said Khamala.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
