Community Based Organizations (CBOs)\nhave had a great contribution to societal development. Through table\nbanking, initiation of financial projects, fund drives and charitable\nengagements, CBOs have contributed significantly in changing the lives of many\nvulnerable persons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tuinuane Kenya members<\/strong><\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Tuinuane Kenya CBO which originated\nfrom Muranda ward of Shinyalu constituency is now a stable and one of\nthe most influential CBOs in western Kenya.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Until today Tuinuane Kenya has\nattracted a registered membership of over 1,000,000 people. It is spread across\nat least 6 counties in Kenya including Kakamega, Nairobi, Siaya, Vihiga, Busia,\nTrans Nzoia and Uasin Gishu counties.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

 According to Jackson Mulika\nMavendi, one of the executives of the CBO, Tuinuane Kenya which began in 2012\nhas up to now constructed over 1000 houses to the vulnerable. It has also paid\nuniversity fees to over 860 students and more than 1100 secondary school\nstudents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

 The organization has also been\nat the forefront of initiating several fund drives to help raise hospital bills\nfor members and catering for funeral expenses of affected members.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The main source of funding for the\nCBO is through member\u2019s contributions and harambee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Apart from the societal developments\nprojects and initiatives, the CBO has also navigated through rough waters of\nadvocacy, community empowerment and education.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to Jackson Mulika, it\u2019s a\nhigh time both the central government and devolved units partner with or\nsupport CBOs in realizing community growth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He however says merging of CBOs is\nkey in achievement of common agenda and called upon CBOs operating on small\nscale to consider joining Tuinuane Kenya CBO.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mr Mulika was talking during a fund\ndrive aimed at raising funds for the construction of a house of mama \n organized by Tuinuane Kenya CBO in Shikhambi in the outskirts of Kakamega\ntown. The fund drive raised Sh76,400.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
