Benard Wakoli alias ‘Opako’ is a\nhousehold name in the Matungu politics. Wakoli \u2013 the erstwhile Ford Kenya\nNational Youth Leader understands how to play his cards well. He is keen on\ndetails and welcomes everyone to his inner circle. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
He is patience and if voters will buy to his ideologies. The Musingu High School alma mater already has the blessings of the Abashitsetse and Abakolwe, Abamurono and all other clans in Matungu. This factor may catapult his way to the top seat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He served in both in the Coalition for Reforms and Democracy (CORD) and the\nNational Super Alliance (NASA) secretariats in 2013 and 2017 as one of the\nadvisors to the principals. In the run up to the 2017 presidential elections,\nhe was part of the technical committee under the steady leadership of renowned economist\nDavid Ndii in crafting the Nasa Manifesto.<\/p>\n\n\n\nWakoli being cleared by IEBC<\/em><\/strong>– Photo\/Ian Sagala<\/strong> <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n
He started schooling at Lubanga Primary\nschool, and then relocated to Shibale Primary school where he completed his\nprimary education and proceeded to Musingu High School, completing his\nsecondary education in 2001.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He was admitted at The\nUniversity of Nairobi (UoN) for his undergraduate studies, specializing in\nPolitical Science.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Upon completion, he proceeded for Masters in\nDevelopment Economics at the University of Antwerp in Belgium. He briefly\ntaught at California University, Irvine-USA in 2014 before returning to Kenya. <\/p>\n\n\n\nBernard<\/strong> Wakoli <\/em><\/strong>– Photo\/Ian Sagala<\/strong> <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n
Wakoli has been actively involved in\nhelping the vulnerable families in Matungu for the last two years he in which\nhe has been able to distribute over 2000 wheelchairs to Persons with\nDisabilities (PwDs) and gave free delight solar panels and kaylights to at\nleast 2000 households.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Wakoli who is running as an independent\ncandidate has also been empowering the locals in making of charcoal bricks to\nraise income and championing for table banking initiative among the women and\nyouth.<\/p>\n\n\n\nBernard<\/strong> Wakoli <\/em><\/strong>– Photo\/Ian Sagala<\/strong> <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n
In partnership with global partners,\nWakoli says he has supported the needy and bright girls access education from\nprimary to university level including enrolling them international universities\nfrom the area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Wakoli whose campaign slogan is\n‘Lwikho luli munda’ which means (true relationship\/friendship lies in the\nstomach) says majority of the locals are still struggling to meet their basic\nneeds.<\/p>\n\n\n\nBernard<\/strong> Wakoli <\/em><\/strong>– Photo\/Ian Sagala<\/strong> <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI know I will be elected as the next\nof Matungu constituency so that I can complete the projects that were started\nby our late MP Justus Murunga and then initiate my own projects. My objective\nis to deal to eradicate poverty and illiteracy in Matungu,\u201d said Wakoli.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Wakoli has since been cleared by the\nIndependent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) and has promised his\ncompetitors that the race will not be a walk in park and that he will give them\na ran for their money.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The mini polls will be held on March\n4, this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
