The closure was  part of the restructuring process which has been going on for a while  with the aim of improving the efficiency of the services,\u201d said Prof.  Shibairo. <\/em><\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The institution\u2019s Acting Vice Chancellor Prof Solomon\nShibairo told the media that they shut down the campuses since they were not\neconomically viable and that the institution was making losses in running them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"480\" height=\"600\" src=\"https:\/\/horizonnews.co.ke\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/IMG-20210113-WA0030.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1437\" srcset=\"https:\/\/horizonnews.co.ke\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/IMG-20210113-WA0030.jpg 480w, https:\/\/horizonnews.co.ke\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/IMG-20210113-WA0030-240x300.jpg 240w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 480px) 100vw, 480px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe Management\nBoard and the senate on January 12, this year held a special meeting over\nclosure of some of its branches. The closure was part of the restructuring\nprocess which has been going on for a while with the aim of improving the efficiency\nof the services,\u201d said Prof. Shibairo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The VC, all the affected students have been advised to\nimmediately report to the main campus for placement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe students who were placed in these campuses will take\nsemester one examination in their various learning centers where after they will\nbe relocated and placed in other campuses of their choice which includes &nbsp;the main campus in Kakamega, Webuye and\nBungoma town,\u201d said Shibairo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He said a Senate Transition Committee has been put in place\nto oversee smooth transition of the process. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ends<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Kakamega By Selipher Musungu Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (Mmust) has closed down four of its satellite campuses.
