he said.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0approved\u00a0projects\u00a0cover\u00a0<wbr \/>important\u00a0areas\u00a0including\u00a0pest<wbr \/>\u00a0and\u00a0disease\u00a0management,\u00a0<wbr \/>climate\u00a0resilience,\u00a0livestock\u00a0<wbr \/>health\u00a0and\u00a0other\u00a0applications\u00a0<wbr \/>of\u00a0modern\u00a0biotechnology.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We\u00a0are\u00a0also\u00a0encouraged\u00a0by\u00a0<wbr \/>the\u00a0growing\u00a0interest\u00a0in\u00a0genome<wbr \/>\u00a0editing.\u00a0With\u00a0nine\u00a0genome-<wbr \/>editing\u00a0projects\u00a0approved,\u00a0<wbr \/>Kenya\u00a0is\u00a0increasingly\u00a0<wbr \/>engaging\u00a0with\u00a0technologies\u00a0<wbr \/>that\u00a0have\u00a0significant\u00a0<wbr \/>potential\u00a0to\u00a0improve\u00a0<wbr \/>agricultural\u00a0productivity,\u00a0<wbr \/>disease\u00a0resistance,\u00a0nutrition\u00a0<wbr \/>and\u00a0resilience\u00a0to\u00a0climate\u00a0<wbr \/>change.\u00a0As\u00a0these\u00a0technologies\u00a0<wbr \/>evolve,\u00a0our\u00a0regulatory\u00a0<wbr \/>approaches\u00a0must\u00a0also\u00a0remain\u00a0<wbr \/>science-based\u00a0and\u00a0responsive,&#8221;
