100 children graduated during the HIV Exposed Infants (HEI) graduation at Bungoma County Referral Hospital.<\/p>\n

The 100 children from the age of 24 months to five years were born from HIV positive mothers.<\/p>\n

The event celebrated the infants who were born from HIV mothers and were put into medication and now they have turned negative.<\/p>\n

This years theme was to ‘End Mother to Child transmission of HIV, Syphilis and Hepatitis B’.<\/p>\n

Kennedy Bomji, the County HIV and Aids coordinator said the graduands are a testimony that HIV can be treated.<\/p>\n

“We are very happy as a department because the infants who are graduating today are an achievement to the ministry of health and the population at large.<\/p>\n

Betty Sitati, the VTP FP county coordinator stated that the Children who graduated
\nwere were born from HIV positive mothers who found out that they were infected when attended the ANC clinics<\/p>\n

Bungoma County continues to make significant progress in improving maternal and Child health outcomes through strengthen prevention of vertical Transmission interventions and the elimination of the Triple Threat of HIV, Syphilis and Hepatitis B transmission from Mother to Child.<\/p>\n

The HIV Exposed Infant program remains a critical component of these efforts, ensuring that infants born to HIV positive mothers receive comprehensive follow up, timely testing and appropriate care to achieve HIV free survival.<\/p>\n

Through different stakeholders, Bungoma has recorded notable gains in reducing mother to Child transmission rates,increasing uptake of antenatal services and enhancing integrated screening and treatment services.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
