The ANC Party leader Hon. Musalia\nMudavadi stands tall after the BBI committee took into consideration his\nproposed amendments days after the launch of the report on October 26 at Bomas\nof Kenya. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speaking at the ANC Party\nheadquarters during the launch of the signatures collection by the party,\nKakamega county gubernatorial hopeful and ANC Parliamentary group Chairman  Ayub Savula said the sweetness in the BBI\ndocument is as a result of  Mudavadi’s\nproposals that have been fully captured. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The ANC party through Mudavadi had\nopined that the BBI proposals rendered the Senate toothless by stripping its\npowers to legislate issues to do with devolution and faulted the proposal which\ntalked of creation of the Office of Ombudsman to be appointed by the President\narguing that the proposal would interfere with the powers of the Judiciary\nwhich the law upholds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Savula reiterated that the party is satisfied with the amendment of a number of proposals among them Article 172 that makes the Senate the vetting House for the Ombudsman rather than the National Assembly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Article 230, which shall see the president ‘NOMINATE’ and not ‘APPOINT’ the chair and members of Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC) pending approval of the National Assembly and that a person who becomes the Leader of the Official Opposition will not come from the same party or coalition which produces the Prime Minister,” said Savula.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hon. Savula further applouded an\namendment that will see more women in parliament, bringing an end to the two-\nthirds gender rule stalemet that had threatened the existence of the 12th\nparliament through the advisory by the Chief Justice David Maraga issued on\nSeptember 21st 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
