National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang\u2019ula has reiterated his determination to contest for the presidency in the 2032 general election, stating that the bid represents a strategic and realistic opportunity for the Western Kenya region to secure a place at the highest level of national leadership.<\/p>\n

He made the remarks during a youth engagement forum held at his home, where he spent time interacting with young people and encouraging them to take an active role in shaping the country\u2019s political future.<\/p>\n

Wetang\u2019ula emphasized that political participation and leadership ambitions must be grounded in broad national appeal rather than limited regional support.<\/p>\n

He noted that no serious presidential contender can rely on a few counties for victory, stressing that success at the ballot requires building trust, relationships, and political goodwill across diverse parts of the country. According to him, effective leadership is achieved through inclusivity and sustained engagement with citizens from all backgrounds.<\/p>\n

During the same meeting, which brought together leaders from the Ford Kenya party alongside youth representatives, Wetang\u2019ula highlighted the importance of unity and strategic political planning within the broader national framework.<\/p>\n

He pointed out that alliances and cooperation across regions remain key pillars for any leader aspiring to occupy the highest office in the land. He also acknowledged President William Ruto\u2019s leadership, describing it as an influential element within the current political environment that aspiring leaders must consider as they position themselves.<\/p>\n

The Speaker further urged young people to take responsibility in national affairs by registering as voters and actively participating in elections.<\/p>\n

He said that politics plays a central role in shaping governance, development, and opportunities, and therefore should not be ignored by the youth.
