Jackline Okanya during the interview<\/em><\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Okanya avers that moral decay and\nhaving absentee parents is what has led to the ever-increasing cases of teenage\npregnancies adding that abject poverty and poor leadership from the current\nleadership is what has failed to address the menace.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&nbsp;\u201cMumias West has 1636 gals aged between 9-14\nyears who have given birth. If we cannot take care of the kids, who will look after\nthem. Am forced to use my salary to cater for their needs but I don\u2019t have a kitty\nto reach them as am just a nominated ward rep,\u201d said Okanya.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">She added; \u201cThe kids after giving birth,\nthey lose direction and that is how their dreams of becoming responsible adults\nin the society is killed. In politics, you must have the correct timing, the correct\nplace, environment, and that time Lurambi was the right place for me but I squandered\nthe chance,\u201d said Okanya.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cAm open and I have integrity but\nthe current leaders are liars. They do not tell the electorates the truth. Am a\nstaunch Anglican and my faith tells me to say the truth. Even we have men who cannot be elected. If we\nput men and women on the same scale, we shall be elected. If you are nominated, next time look for elective seat. You are hereby suspended from ANC\nwith immediate effect and during this period, you will not conduct any business\non behalf of the party.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cMuluka wanted to micromanage the\nparty and which seats we should get. I refused to be intimidated by the party because\nam a woman and stood firm to date.
