As the 2027 general elections approaches, Webuye West Constituency parliamentary aspirant Lendrix Waswa has outlined his plan for the people of Webuye West Constituency saying that he is ready to serve as a Member of Parliament (MP).<\/p>\n

Speaking at Sirisia Bok primary school in Webuye West Constituency during the distribution of uniforms exercise, Waswa said, the move to support over 5,000 learners get new uniforms and other learning essentials was as a result of him being a parent and knowing the hardships parents go in providing for their children.<\/p>\n

He stated that apart from uniforms, other school essentials like; sanitary pads and exercise books.<\/p>\n

\u201cToday\u2019s activity to sponsor over 5,000 learners in Webuye West Constituency schools was motivated by myself being a parent and knowing what parents go through to ensure that their children are in school,\u201d Waswa noted.<\/p>\n

Further, Waswa reported that the extra amount he raises from his micro- lending, insurance and private security companies uses to support the less fortunate the community access to quality healthcare, Education and other crucial services.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is not that I have a lot of money to waste but the little I get from my businesses I support my people access to quality services,\u201d he noted.<\/p>\n

Waswa also noted that he runs a foundation that focuses on empowering communities, adding that he grew up in a poor background. The initiative focuses only on primary schools.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis programme will only focus on junior schools, senior schools, colleges and Universities we have their plan of supporting them with fees,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

He reported that the programme has specifically targeted learners from grade one to grade six, noting that these formative years are critical in shaping a child\u2019s academic foundation and self-esteem.<\/p>\n

Waswa explained that focusing on lower primary pupils ensures that children begin their education journey with confidence, dignity and a sense of belonging.<\/p>\n

He observed that many dropouts and cases of absenteeism are often rooted in challenges experienced at the early stages of schooling, including lack of basic necessities such as uniforms.<\/p>\n

\u201cBy prioritizing grade one to six learners, he said the initiative seeks to ease the burden on parents, improve attendance rates and strengthen retention as pupils\u2019 transition to Senior schools,\u201d he said, adding that he also intends to start lunch programmes in the Constituency.<\/p>\n

He said that the pilot programme will run in all wards saying that they have started with Misikhu and Bokoli next will focus on Matulo and Sitikho wards.<\/p>\n

Waswa said education remains the surest pathway to transforming the constituency\u2019s social and economic fortunes.<\/p>\n

He emphasized that the uniform distribution was not a political gimmick but part of a broader, long-term commitment to uplift education standards in the constituency.<\/p>\n

Waswa pledged that if elected Member of Parliament, he would prioritize increased bursary allocations, improvement of school infrastructure, make education free education for all day schools and enhanced support for needy students to ensure no learner is left behind.<\/p>\n

The parliamentary hopeful is preparing to face off with incumbent MP Dan Wanyama of UDA in what is shaping up to be a competitive race.<\/p>\n

However, Waswa has yet to declare the political party under which he will contest, saying his focus for now is engaging residents and listening to their needs.<\/p>\n

Beyond education, Waswa highlighted several community initiatives he has spearheaded over the years.<\/p>\n

These include organizing free medical camps that have benefited hundreds of residents who could not afford specialized treatment.<\/p>\n

He said access to healthcare remains a pressing concern, especially for elderly citizens and low-income families.<\/p>\n

\u201cThrough medical camps, we have been able to screen and treat common illnesses and refer to serious cases for further management. Health is wealth and a healthy population is key to development,\u201d he noted.<\/p>\n

Waswa also pointed to his efforts in supporting farmers through the construction of cattle dips aimed at controlling ticks that cause livestock diseases.<\/p>\n

He said livestock farming is a major economic activity in parts of Webuye West and protecting animals from disease directly safeguards household incomes.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur farmers lose a lot of money due to preventable livestock diseases. By constructing cattle dips, we are not only improving animal health but also strengthening the local economy,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Waswa has facilitated the disbursement of bursaries to vulnerable students and extended support to persons with disabilities through the distribution of wheelchairs.<\/p>\n
