Bungoma Governor Kenneth Lusaka has launched the 2025\u20132030 Strategic Plan for the Bungoma County Teaching and Referral Hospital (BCTRH), outlining bold reforms aimed at improving healthcare delivery in the county and the wider region.<\/p>\n
Speaking during the hospital\u2019s end-year staff celebration, the governor said the plan brings out the county\u2019s commitment to positioning BCTRH as a centre of excellence offering quality, patient-centred and compassionate care.<\/p>\n

Lusaka noted that the county has already expanded services, strengthened systems, improved partnerships and enhanced the hospital\u2019s role as a teaching and referral facility, adding that the new strategic plan builds on these gains.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe plan we have launched is more than a document; it is a promise to our people,\u201d he said, adding that it prioritises modern infrastructure, technology, equipment, staff training and welfare, research, innovation and financial sustainability.<\/p>\n

He acknowledged staff shortages in the health sector but said the county had recently hired additional technical and support staff and would continue recruiting. Lusaka further pledged to allocate funds to hire four key specialists which included an oncologist, psychiatrist, neurosurgeon and pathologist,to elevate BCTRH to a full Level Five hospital.<\/p>\n
On infrastructure, the governor announced plans to construct new administration, medical and surgical blocks, with the aim of ending bed-sharing at the facility.<\/p>\n
\u201cOver the next five years, BCTRH will not only respond to illness but help shape the future of healthcare in our region,\u201d Lusaka said, while praising the hospital\u2019s management, board and staff for their dedication.<\/p>\n
The event was attended by Deputy Governor Janepher Mbatiany, Head of Public Service William Nasong\u2019o, Health and Sanitation CECM CPA Chrispinus Barasa, Chief Officer Dr Magrima Mayama, County Director of Health Dr Caleb Watta and BCTRH Medical Superintendent Dr Simon Kisaka, among others.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
