{"id":1134,"date":"2020-09-28T12:42:39","date_gmt":"2020-09-28T12:42:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/countysplash.co.ke\/?p=1134"},"modified":"2020-09-28T12:42:39","modified_gmt":"2020-09-28T12:42:39","slug":"bungoma-gets-first-cancer-clinic","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/horizonnews.co.ke\/?p=1134","title":{"rendered":"Bungoma gets first cancer clinic"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">By Tony Wafula<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Bungoma <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Bungoma County now has a state of\nthe art cancer clinic, which was the brainchild of Caroline Wangamati through\nthe County First Lady Association in partnership with ROCHE, Women4Cancer and the\nAfrica Cancer Foundation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The cancer clinic will be domiciled\nat the Bungoma Referral Hospital.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The clinic is a first of its kind in\nthe region and the third in the country after Kisumu and Meru counties.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&nbsp;\u201cThis clinic is projected to aid in the\ndetection and treatment of patients suffering from breast and cervical cancer\nfor and prostate cancer too,\u201d said Ms. Wangamati.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/countysplash.co.ke\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/097A2829-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1136\"\/><figcaption><em><strong>The Bungoma Cancer Clinic<\/strong><\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He added: \u201cThe clinic has an already\ntrained staff to handle cancer patients and are well equipped. Members of the public\nare encouraged to visit the facility as research has determined that early\ndetection can save on the morbidity numbers occasioned by cancer,\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Wangamati expressed her commitment\nin making Bungoma a healthy county and free from cancer. &#8220;I share a vision\nwith my husband Governor Wangamati of making this county great, but we cannot\nachieve this with a sick and dying population.
