{"id":1052,"date":"2020-08-13T12:06:15","date_gmt":"2020-08-13T12:06:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/countysplash.co.ke\/?p=1052"},"modified":"2020-08-13T12:06:15","modified_gmt":"2020-08-13T12:06:15","slug":"oparanya-new-kakamega-county-teaching-and-referral-hospital-to-start-operations-in-october","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/horizonnews.co.ke\/?p=1052","title":{"rendered":"Oparanya: New Kakamega County Teaching and Referral Hospital to start operations in October"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Collins Matubwi <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Kakamega <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The new Kakamega County Teaching and Referral Hospital is set to open its\ndoors in October this this year after completion of phase one.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya told Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi\nKagwe that the devolved has so far spent a whooping Sh2.6billion on the 750-bed\ncapacity hospital, money that was raised from internally.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Oparanya said the facility will be ready for use in the next two months.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This was during Kagwe\u2019s visit to check on the county\u2019s preparedness in fighting\nthe spread of Covid19. Already\nwe have an existing collaboration with the different hospitals in India where\nwe shall have doctors exchange programs,\u201d said Oparanya.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p><strong><em> \u201cWe are fully supporting President Uhuru Kenyatta\u2019s Big Four Agenda on provision of universal health care to all. They will also equip the facility with cancer diagnostic machines.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Oparanya avers that governors from the Lake Region Economic Bloc (Lreb) will\nnot employ many specialists but will rather have &nbsp;a few medics so that consultant doctors can\ncome, treat patients and get paid for services rendered, saying it\u2019s expensive\nto have many doctors on board,\u201d said Oparanya.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p><strong><em> \u201cThe completion of the airstrip will complement  Oparanya\u2019s flagship projects like the 750-Kakamega County Teaching and Referral hospital, the Malava Dairy Plant, Bukhungu stadium and the Shinyalu Tea Factory. We have\nallocated Sh2.5 billion for the second phase, which is ongoing.
