A fourth year procurement student from Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (Mmust) is among three Kenyan students who will represent the country in the Pan African Queen 2020 beauty contest in Ghana between November 15-30 this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Christabel Azangalala together with Grace Akinyi and Sarah Njambi will\nbe traveling to Ghana for the competitions in November this year. <\/p>\n\n\n\nChristabel Azangalala<\/em><\/strong> <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n
They were selected to represent the\ncountry after a vigorous online voting edging out 25 other contestants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The competition will go on in the wake of Covid19 pandemic. At least\n30 contestants from 15 African countries who have already confirmed their\nparticipation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe competition is all about raising young African to become international models who can be engaged by corporates to advertise their products and the money they get, they plough it back to promote talent in their mother countries as well as fight poverty and gender based violence,\u201d said Ms. Azangalala. <\/em><\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n
The three contestants from Kenya will be battling it out with\nNontlanga Xolisa (South Africa), Dione Chacha (South Africa), Mihret Welegne\n(Ethiopia), Monalisa Kafuwa (Malawi) and Mbonu Mangwi Blessing (Cameroo) among\nothers.<\/p>\n\n\n\nChristabel Azangalala<\/em><\/strong> <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n
Pauline Marere from Zimbabwe is the current Miss Pan African Queen\nInternational for 2019\/20 and will be handing over her crown in November this\nyear.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe competition is all about raising young African to become\ninternational models who can be engaged by corporates to advertise their\nproducts and the money they get, they plough it back to promote talent in their\nmother countries as well as fight poverty and gender based violence,\u201d said Ms.\nAzangalala.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe two competitions helped me get contracts with corporates and as brand ambassadors for new products that are being introduced to the market for the first time but the biggest challenge I face is about delayed payments and sometimes no payments at all,\u201d said Azangalala. <\/em><\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n
The 20-year-old student said that the winner will get an international\nmodeling contract as well as a film making (acting) deal, Sh300, 000 and a\nHonda Car 2020 model.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Azangalala was the second runners up during the Miss Kakamega 2018\/19\nand among the finalists during the Miss Tourism Kakamega County beauty pageants\ncompetition and started her modeling career in 2017 when she was a first year\nstudent at Mmust.<\/p>\n\n\n\nChristabel Azangalala<\/em><\/strong> <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Azangalala said when multi-nationals hire a model as a brand\nambassador and you do not meet the set targets, they unceremoniously terminate\nyour contract without any pay and sometimes, promoters demand for sexual\nfavours before giving you a contract.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
