Chaos marred the burial of a woman who died after delivery, with opposing sides claiming the right of burial.<\/p>\n

Sylvia Kwemoi,30, enjoyed good health until Friday, 3rd October 2025, at a Malaba hospital where she delivered well before developing complications due to bleeding.<\/p>\n

She was rushed to Busia County Referral Hospital (BCRH), where she was placed on oxygen. Later that evening, at 9.43pm, while still receiving care, the Lord called her to eternal rest, according to her euology.<\/p>\n

Drama unfolded when the body was removed from Frapa Mourtuary in Kocholia on Thursday when the woman’s Ilogir clan and the husband’s clan disagreed on where Sylvia should be buried.<\/p>\n

The husband’s clan wanted the woman buried at the Acunet area near Malaba while the woman’s clan wanted their daughter buried at Korisai village in
\nMalaba North Ward, where she settled with her husband on a one acre piece of land.<\/p>\n

The woman’s clan tricked the husband’s clan that the body should first be taken to Korisai before being returned to Acunet for Friday’s burial.<\/p>\n

Hell broke loose when the woman’s clan blocked the hearse from leaving the compound and threatening those with contrary opinions with dire consequences.<\/p>\n

As the drama went unabated, the woman’s clan hurriedly started digging the grave to forestall their daughter being buried in Acunet.<\/p>\n

” My mother-in-law and other family members save for the husband, wanted my sister buried in Acunet, but we vehemently refused because the Acunet land has a case,” Akure said.<\/p>\n

He added: ” We needed our sister being buried in the land which she lived with her husband Wilberforce Kwemoi Sutek.”<\/p>\n

Akure said they were not interested in food with reports indicating that cows had been slaughtered at Acunet with no major activities at Korisai..<\/p>\n

” To prevent an embrassment of the Korisai burial Maranatha Transformation Centre Presiding Bishop Pius Idewa hired tents at ,” Akure said.<\/p>\n

Martin said on Friday they ate kales and kunde to confirm that with or without food they must bury their sister where she deserves, adding they have slaughtered one cow back home for those who attended Friday’s burial.<\/p>\n

Sylvia lives behind four children. She was described as a prayerful and devoted servant of God who actively participated in the women’s ministry and outreach programs.<\/p>\n
