As Christians across the world marked the resurrection of Jesus Christ, the Ikaruok Sidelewa Clan gathered to bless their son, Lay Canon Eng. Vincent Sidai, in his bid for the Busia gubernatorial seat.
The clan convened at Emukule’s home family in a show of unity, prayer, and thanksgiving. The gathering brought together grandparents, parents, siblings, and in-laws in a rare and deeply moving moment that underscored the importance of family, faith, and shared destiny.
Speaking after the ceremony, Sidai described the occasion as both spiritual and symbolic.
“This Easter was not just a celebration of faith, but a time of reflection and renewal. Just as the resurrection signifies new life and hope, I feel a renewed sense of purpose for the journey ahead,” he said.

He expressed gratitude for the blessings and counsel he received from the elders, noting that their prayers had strengthened his resolve and affirmed his leadership path.
“The elders reminded us that leadership begins at home—grounded in values, unity, and service to others. Their blessing is not merely political; it is spiritual, cultural, and generational,” Sidai added.
He emphasized that his current bid is backed by greater experience, a stronger network, and a deeper understanding of the community compared to his first attempt in 2013 at the age of 39.

“Today, I walk this journey with renewed strength and wider support. Step by step, guided by faith, family, and the will of the people, we move forward with hope and determination,” he said.
Sidai concluded by calling on residents to embrace the spirit of Easter as a time for unity and commitment to building a better future.
“May the spirit of Easter guide us, unite us, and renew our dedication to service,” he said.
