Chesamisi Boys Dismisses Negligence, Says Student Died Of Heart Disease

The Board of Management, staff, students, and the entire Chesamisi Boys
Senior School in Kimilili/Bungoma Sub-County has come out clearly and ruled out negligence in the death of their student.
The Principal Chesamisi boys senior School Mr. Protus Wandela Ndombi clarified the circumstances surrounding the sudden and untimely death of our student, Eugene Oundo Wekesa a form four student.
He said that an unfortunate incident has caused deep sorrow to the school
community and the public at large.
“Following the tragic occurrence, the school, together with the family of the
deceased and the relevant authorities, agreed to allow the due process of medical examination and official investigation to be concluded before issuing any public statement. This was necessary to ensure that the information shared with stakeholders would be accurate, respectful to the bereaved
family, and consistent with the findings of the competent authorities,” he said.
Ndombi added, “We wish to inform all stakeholders that the postmortem examination has since been conducted, and the medical report established that the student passed
away as a result of an underlying medical condition,”.
The report confirmed that the deceased had an enlarged heart, a condition that led to the sudden death. The findings indicate that the death was not caused by any act of
negligence, misconduct, or mistreatment within the school.
Chesamisi Boys Senior School places the safety, health, and general welfare of
every learner under our care as a top priority.
We remain committed to providing a secure, supportive, and nurturing environment for all our students, and we continuously work closely with parents, guardians, and
medical professionals to safeguard the wellbeing of every child entrusted to
us.
We are deeply saddened by the loss of Eugene, and we extend our heartfelt
condolences to his family, relatives, classmates, and friends during this
difficult time. As a school, we share in their grief and continue to offer our
support as they come to terms with this painful loss.
The school is, however, concerned by the circulation of misleading, unfounded, and false information on social media and other platforms alleging negligence on the part of the school and its caregivers.
Such statements have caused unnecessary distress to the family, the students, and
the staff, and have unfairly damaged the reputation of the institution.
The school is currently consulting with the relevant authorities and reserves the
right to take appropriate action against individuals spreading defamatory and
unverified information.
We appeal to all stakeholders and members of the public to rely only on official communication from the school and the competent authorities, and to
allow the family of the deceased the dignity and peace they deserve during this
period of mourning.
May the soul of Eugene Oundo Wekesa rest in eternal peace.
