International Footballer Victor Wanyama Pays Courtesy Visit, Backs Grassroots Sports in Busia

International footballer Victor Wanyama paid a courtesy visit to the Principal Administrative Secretary in the Executive Office of the President Arthur Osiya as part of his continued commitment to giving back to the community.

Mr. Wanyama is currently undertaking the construction of a football talent development centre in Nambale Sub-County, featuring four modern football pitches, which is now 80 per cent complete.

The centre is designed to nurture young football talent and create structured pathways for local players to access opportunities at the global level.

In further support of grassroots sports development, the PAS also facilitated pitch improvement works at Elwanikha Primary School grounds, aimed at enhancing access to safe and quality sporting facilities for learners and the surrounding community.

During the visit, Victor Wanyama expressed his strong desire to identify, nurture, and develop football talent from Busia County, with opportunities extending internationally—particularly in the United Kingdom and Scotland.

His initiative reflects a deep commitment to returning to the community and investing in the future of our youth through sports.

Tottenham Hotspur FC (England) – Played in the Premier League and was part of the squad that reached the 2019 UEFA Champions League final.
CF Montréal (Canada, Major League Soccer) – Joined in 2020 and spent several seasons in MLS.
