A Busia top fans Isaac Emuria alias Man Ras, has predicted that Harambee Stars will top their group to qualify for quarterfinals of the African Nations Championships (CHAN) and play their match in Nairobi instead of Dar-es-Salaam if they finish as runners-up.
Kenya leads the group with seven points from three matches. They beat DR Congo 1-0 in the opening match. They drew 1-1 with Angola in the second match before edging Morocco 1-0 in their third match on Sunday.
Kenya meets Zambia in their last preliminary match on Sunday at Kasarani Stadium. Man Ras said their is no stopping Harambee Stars from overcoming the Chipolopolo and claim top stop.
Angola and Morocco are hoping Kenya falters in their last match, and they triumph to deny the fighting roaring Harambee Stars a quarter-final slot.
” McCathy is doing fantastic job with his youthful side spearheaded by prolific goalscorer Austin Odhiambo and attacking midfielder Bonface Muchiri,” Man Ras said.
Man Ras, whose gymnastics expertise from the slums of Busia saw him lead Bugengi to national limilight. He has been a staunch footballer since the mid 1980s in Nairobi with Ambrose Ayoyi has his icon.
However, Man Ras from Kolanya, Teso North Sub County blamed Video Assistant Referee (VAR) as the team’s undoing with three red cards since the tournament started on August 3.
Harambee headcoach Benni McCarthy owed the team’s 1-0 victory over two-time champions Morocco to fans support, noting that they are moving to the level of Morocco because they are structured and discipline.
Rewards to the team by President William Ruto have motivated the players. Players and officials are awarded Ksh1m for a win and Ksh500,000 for a draw. They will receive Ksh2.5m if they beat Zambia on Sunday and Ksh1m and an affordable housing unit should they secure victory in the quarter-finals.
