Ugenya Mp Urges Youths To Use Their Numbers To Advance Their Political & Economic Agenda

Ugenya MP David Ochieng has advised the youth to use their numerical strength to advance their political and economic agenda.

 

Ochieng, who is also the Movement for Democracy and Growth Party Leader however said that for youth to achieve their desired goals, they must be part and parcel of the political organization.

 

He told them to seek identity cards and acquire voters cards, noting that the two documents are critical instruments for exercising their democratic rights and having their voices heard.

“ If you want change to happen as you desire you must participate in politics at all levels, either through mobilization or by seeking elective positions, said the MP.

 

Ochieng said that as witnessed during the recent Gen- Z movement demonstrations, young people can be a force to be reckoned with if well organized and show determination in pursuing their agenda.

 

The MP was speaking at Kenyatta University during the institutions students association annual award ceremony dubbed the “ KUSA Awards”, where he was the chief guest. The colourful event was held at the universities amphitheatre.

 

The evening event, hosted by the students. body congress speaker saw dozens of students awarded for excellence in various fields including academics, student’s leadership, sports, the arts, business enterprise, fashion, music , social media influence, dance and community service.

 

The event, which was filled with pomp, colour and funfare, was attended by over 4000 students and was presided over by the students congress speaker Tobias Oyare.

 

The Youthful Ugenya MP, who is serving his third term and was first elected to Parliament at 31 years, advised the youth not to be dissuaded from engaging in politics by the negative publicity around politicians.

 

He said politics is supposed to be the center of organizing and transforming society and urged young people to embrace politics as part of the society’s building initiative.

Ochieng, urged the students to zealously pursue their dreams through hard-work and determination to achieve the success that they desire in life

 

Oyare, the Students congress speaker said that young people are determined to be part of transformative force within the Kenyan society.

 

He said as witnessed by the high standards and quality exhibited at the KUSA awards, young people have the skills, drive and energy to positively impact society.
