Orange Democratic Movement party leaders have called out the former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua to stop lecturing ODM leader Raila Odinga on matters of political decisions.
Led by the deputy party leader Godfrey Otsotsi and party secretary general Edwin Sifuna, they have warned Gachagua to stop forcing Raila into his politics.
Speaking during the official opening of the new office in Kanduyi constituency at Bungoma, Otsotsi said Gachagua should respect Odinga and focus on his own agendas rather than interfering in ODM politics.
Otsotsi further affirmed that ODM will fill elective positions in the 2027 general election including presidential candidate.
On his side Sifuna highlighted that the national government owes the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Ksh 12billion. This funding, he noted, could have helped the party establish offices throughout the country. Sifuna stressed his commitment to ensuring ODM secures a significant role in government.
He acknowledged that seeking the Senate seat is a challenging endeavor but is committed to pursuing justice within the party and has no ill will toward any party members. He reiterated his loyalty to ODM and promised to repay the support he has received in kind.
Senator Sifuna however urged Raila Odinga not to consider folding the party into a coalition with President William Ruto and reassured supporters that ODM remains strong and intact.
He promised changes within the party to better serve grassroots leaders and ensure fair election processes, especially after previous coalitions had disappointed supporters in Bungoma.
In response to ongoing tensions within the party, Saboti MP Caleb Hamisi called on ODM leadership to protect Sifuna from any internal criticism and attacks, particularly from party figures like targeting Makadara member of parliament George Aladwa and Kaluma, for recent attacks on Sifuna.
Hamisi declared that such behavior is unacceptable and must be addressed for the party’s welfare.
As ODM prepares to celebrate 20 years since its formation in Busia tomorrow, party leaders are eager to reaffirm their commitment to unity and progress within the organization.
They urged Raila Odinga to take his time to consult and provide clear direction to party supporters moving forward.
