Kimilili member of parliament Didmus Barasa has raised concerns regarding the National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF) and its effectiveness in providing adequate medical services to Kenyans.

Speaking in Kimilili and Webuye East constituencies in Bungoma County, Barasa expressed his disagreement with President William Ruto’s approach to the insurance scheme, which has reportedly been releaving many Kenyans who seek medical treatment.

Barasa highlighted that citizens are struggling to access necessary healthcare services under the current insurance framework.

He recommended that certain items be removed from the insurance coverage to improve its efficacy.

He urged the President to address this urgent issue, suggesting that financial resources should be allocated to the Ministry of Health to ensure that Kenyans receive the medical care they need.

He called for all stakeholders to collaborate on reforming the insurance scheme, stating that if the situation does not improve, there may be a need to reconsider the coverage provided under the insurance.
