Iteso Cultural Union ( ICU) leader Papa Paul Sande Emolot will visit the Iteso community in Teso Kenya and those residing in other sub counties in March this year.
Addressing mourners during the burial of Moses Oduya in Katakwa, Teso North Sub County, on Wednesday, January 29, 2025, ICU Deputy Prime Minister Fredrick Adungo urged Ateker community to accord their cultural leader a befitting welcome.
Adungo said the visit to Matayos, Nambale, Bungoma, Trans Nzoia, Teso North, Teso South, and Teso Central Sub will culminate into a professional conference at the end of his tour.
Adungo said ICU has also launched the membership recruitment drive through clans and clan registration with a view to establishing the total number of clans in Kenya, adding that they will be issued with ICU certificates through the office of the Deputy Prime Minister.
Adungo said during the tour, Papa Emormor will launch the education programme, which will entail scholarships of vulnerable children among the Iteso community in Kenya.
The DPM said the cultural leader will, during his tour, tell the Iteso community to embrace culture and advise their children not to forget their mother tongue, learn dressing code, and types of food required to extend their life expendancy.
Adungo said Emormor will also announce the construction of Iteso Palace in Soroti, asking the Iteso community to support, adding that the vulnerable can donate a cock each to support the venture.
Meanwhile, Adungo has categorically denied Papa Emormor endorsing any political leader in Teso for any position, urging the Iteso community to love one another and embrace unity.
