Construction of KSh 343 Million Chwele Strategic Market Launched

Bungoma Governor Kenneth Lusaka has launched the construction of the KSh 343 million Chwele Strategic Market.

The project aims to provide a modern trading hub for over 1,000 local traders, marking a significant milestone in the county’s economic development agenda.

The one -storey County strategic market facility will feature modern stalls, cold rooms, revenue offices, conference room, mother’s room, ICT hub, washing area, offloading and loading zones among others .

Speaking during the groundbreaking ceremony, Governor Lusaka emphasized the project’s role in driving economy and positioning Chwele as a regional economic powerhouse.

“This project will transform Chwele into a regional economic hub, attracting investors and spurring development in Bungoma County,” he stated.

This infrastructure is expected to be completed in 18 months and will enhance service delivery, boost local commerce, and support community livelihoods.
