Busia Women Representative Catherine Omanyo has admitted receiving constant insults from people who do not wish her well.
Speaking at Amagoro Primary School, where she presided over sanitary towels distribution to Juniour Secondary Schools and day secondary schools, the women Rep said she will soldier on to serve the people of Busia County.
” Intimidations against me are geared towards silencing me, but I can’t badge,” Omanyo said, likening her critics to 10 leppers whom Jesus healed, but only one returned to say thank you.
She went on: ” Pray for me. The Women Rep seat is not easy. Many of my electorates ask me for toilets, classrooms, laboratories, and yet that is the work of Members of Parliament.”
She called on county residents to give them morale to offer effective representation, warning those who are tasked to carry relief food for diverting the supplies upon delivery, especially at night.
Ms. Omanyo pleaded for peace in the country, lauding the Azimio leader Raila Odinga for accepting to work with President William Ruto to restore normalcy in the country.
” Kenya is bigger than an individual. Ruto will come and go, Kibaki did the same. Let’s put out the raging fire that is engulfing the country,” she said.
The Women Rep confirmed that she was still in the opposition, noting that if the government brings bad things, she would vehemently oppose them.
” For now our children Gen-Z have tried. Those big headed, have come down, those who spoke Queen’s language and walking in stylish way have swallowed bitter pill, ” she said.
Omanyo noted that Baba is always right for anyone to question, calling on Kenyans to put their country first. He lauded President Ruto for radical steps he took to avert impending catastrophe in the country.
She exuded confidence that Baba would help bring peace in the country.” If he says we demonstrate, I will not hesitate to carry my sufuria on the head.”
However, Hon Omanyo told the president to refund civil servants NSSF contributions, noting that making deductions based on gross salary is like recycling poverty.
Omanyo revealed how her Gen-Z daughter challenged her why they are always making noise in that parliament, noting that it seems us people need help.
