Over 800 people with disabilities will benefit from the climate change initiative managed by the CBM Global organization in collaboration with the Red Cross and the Bungoma County administration.
Addressing the Journalists in Chengwali, Kanduyi sub-county, Bungoma County’s director of climate change, Jane Gitau, stated that many individuals in the county who have physical disabilities have been negatively impacted by climate change, which has jeopardized their food security because many of them rely on agriculture. Most of the time, however, they are unaware of these changes.
“The majority of them are entirely reliant on agriculture in this county and are unable to cultivate as they once did because of variations in seasonality.Gitau stated.

She went on to say that as part of the process of establishing climate change capacity, the disabled are given full rehabilitation so they may learn about the governance of climate change that will take place in the communities.
“We make sure that people with disabilities are fully represented when we conduct capacity building in our wards so that the disabled can adapt to climate change,” the speaker stated.
Building disabled people’s capacity to address climate change is necessary because some of them are unsure of when or what sort of crops to plant. This will enable them to get over these obstacles.
