Bright but needy students from Bungoma county are set to receive bursary support from businessman and philanthropist Joseph Waswa.

Waswa has said at least 100 students from the county will benefit directly from his foundation in a bid to boost education.
“My foundation is running a county football tournament that is slated to come to an end in a few months, I will be scouting for the best 10 students from every constituency to benefit from my scholarship “, said Waswa.

He said the programme will run concurrently with the football tournament that is running in Bungoma county.
The best team is expected to take home a whopping Ksh700,000.
The runners up will bag a half a million.

Waswa has said many students have suffered from delay in disbursement of county scholarship funds hence the need.for intervention to boost education standards.

He said many students have dropped from schools due to lack of funds.
He has asked the county government to improve allocation of bursary funds to bright and needy students .
