Maseno University students holds demonstrations after Monday shooting of a 3rd student by the police.
William Mayenga died on the spot after police from Maseno police station shot him on the neck.
The incident occured at the time when students joined Kenyans in conducting peaceful demonstrations against the high cost of living.
The students accuse the police of firing live bullets aimlessly causing the death of the Literature student.
Demonstrating comrades are insisting that were following the law before the reckless shooting by the police. They are demanding justice for their fellow.
“What we want is justice and nothing else,” the students said.
The students boycotted today’s classes to mourn their collegue along the Kisumu-Busia road without interfering with other people’s activities.
The government pathologist is already at Coptic mission hospital morgue for the postmortem of the late William Mayenga.
Mayenga’s parents were left speechless at the Coptic mission hospital morguewhere their son’s postmortem was conducted.
His dad Joash Mayenga said he is yet to understand why his son was targeted by the police.
“My son was a calm person, very humble and as his dad I never expected this,” his father said.
His mother Everline Miruka accused the security agents for failing in their duty to protect citizens.
“Those police officers are the one to offer security to these innocent learners but they have turned against them and killing them,” Miruka said.
