Vetting Of Scholarship Beneficiaries Completed, Number Reduced From 8,000 To 5,600 -Lusaka



Bungoma governor Kenneth Lusaka has revealed that the final vetting of the last cohort of scholarship beneficiaries has been completed and the Number reduced from 8,000 to 5,600.

Speaking at Christ the King Church in Bungoma town, Lusaka said those axed include those who parents are financially stable.

“We have now completed the vetting and ensured that we remain with only bright and needy cases,” said Lusaka.

The governor said that his government had made plans to ensure that needy cases with lower marks get bursaries at the ward levels.

“Like I pledged during my campaigns that every needy cases deserves help and that’s why I have started the ward bursaries to accommodate even those who got 100 marks ,” said lusaka.

He said that he doesn’t regret the move because that was the right thing to do.

Lusaka further announced that henceforth money will be wired directly to school accounts and no Cheques will be issued.

“The issuance of Cheques has been an avenue of corruption and starting this term we will wire money directly to schools,” he said.
