Bungoma Governor Ken Lusaka has promised to economically empower jua kali traders and boda boda operators in the county through county loans, grants and tenders to help boost their businesses.
Speaking while separately meeting Bungoma’s Chebukube market traders and boda boda operators in Kamukuywa on Wednesday, Lusaka called on traders to form Saccos which can help them a great deal in terms of bettering their lives.
“The county government understands a great role the traders and traders play and we will support you financially so that you can change your lives,” he said.
Lusaka also promised to follow up the construction of Chebukube market stalls to help traders get a nice place to do their businesses.
“I will visit Chebukube market in the next two weeks time to get the views of traders and the challenges they are facing,” he added.
He noted that the two groups pass through hard times while fending for themselves and they need empowerment to boost their businesses.
Governor called on them to remain united and stop the infighting amongst themselves so that they can better their lives.
