Dennis Avokoywa, Kakamega
Police in Kakamega are in pursuit of a middle-aged woman on suspicion of kidnapping a one and half-year-old girl.
In line with a statement filed at Shikoti police post, the suspect was alleged to have drugged the victim with some sleeping pills before getting away with the said toddler.
According to Lilian Manguti, mother of the toddler, she was nursing a wound in her thighs when a stranger approached her on the pretext of buying some vegetables.
“She spotted the wound and claimed to have nursed a similar wound previously. She said she had a certain medicine that could help cure my wound”, Said Manguti.
Manguti opted to use the medicine hoping to get well soon. She was tired of spending thousands of money in search of medicine that would restore her life to normal.
"I can't explain how she managed to convince me. I found myself buying into her idea. I was dizzy and tired. I was shocked to find my daughter missing after being unconscious for more than 4 hours", She said.
However, the family’s efforts to find their daughter since then have bore no fruit.
The family now calls for the intervention of the public as well as the area administration to help them find their daughter.
“Each time I think of my daughter, I fail to eat and sleep. I call upon Anyone who has information that will lead us where she is to report to any nearby police station”, Said Wycliffe Atakha, the child’s father.
Manguti’s daughter has been missing since Monday last week.
