Azimio La Umoja- One Kenya Alliance Affiliate Parties met today to finalize arrangements of receiving the coalition’s Presidential candidate, Raila Odinga who is set to tour the county tomorrow.
Azimio County Coordinator, Bernard Wamalwa said Baba the 5th will start the tour with a stakeholders consultation meeting at Butula Polytechnic starting 9.am before addressing a rally in Butula between 11am and 12 noon.
Wamalwa, who is also the Busia County Assembly Speaker said the Rt Hon Raila Odinga will then travel by road via Elugulu where he will hold a side road meeting at Nambale township between 12.30-1pm.
He will proceed to Amukura for another rally between 2.30-3pm before heading to Busia to open the Azimio Centre, formerly Mzuri Place. Raila will wind up the tour with another Rally at Busia Stadium at 4:00pm.
Hon Wamalwa said the Azimio National Captain will make another tour to the areas he would have left out including Teso North, Samia and Bunyala Sub Counties.
Kakamega has the largest share of votes at 841,139, followed by Bungoma (644,233), Busia (406,569) and Vihiga (304, 765).
He received 82 per cent, or 1.186 million votes in 2017, compared to Mr Kenyatta’s 242,388 in Western.
Wamalwa dismissed Kenya Kwanza claims that they can garner over 70 percent of the votes in Western region, asserting that they will deliver 99.9% of the votes to Baba during the August 9th, 2022 polls.
Candidates for Azimio affiliate parties attended the meeting at Azimio Centre. ODM has the lion’s share with a total of 46 candidate, including one governor, one Senator, one Woman representatives, seven MPs and 35 MCAs.
DAP-K is second with 42 candidates including one Governor, one Senator, one woman rep, four MPs and 35 MCAs. MDG has a total of 26 candidates: MPs (2), Woman Rep (1) and MCAs(23). LPK composition includes One Senator, 2 MPs and 19 MCAs. Other parties
which were represented included Wiper, NARC Kenya and NRA.
Candidates who presented their views said they are ready to receive their presidential candidates but will embrace Azimio six piece but not six piece for individual affiliate parties. They also called for unity to realize Baba’s ambition of ascending to the presidency.
Busia First Lady, Judy Ojaamong who attended the meeting urged candidates to conduct their campaigns peacefully devoid of which hunt and character assassination, noting that the bottom line is to secure virtually all votes for Baba.
Raila started the tour of the rich vote Western by holding townhall meetings in Vihiga County today before addressing political rallies starting with Hamisi Stadium.
