By Paul Mukana

It is now official, Mrs.Philemona Bineah Kapkor is the running mate of George Natembeya of DAP-K party in the Transnzoia gubernatorial race.

Natembeya announced Mrs.Philemona’s name at DAP-K’S party headquarters at Chui house, Nairobi on Friday in an event that was also graced by the party’s leaders Eugene Wamalwa, Wafula Wamunyinyi and Eseli Simiyu.

“”She is a person whose mind and vision is so close to mine, a person who understands what we want to do for Transnzoia. And, I am so sure that she will be my able assistant,” Natembeya said.

Since the IEBC deadline for unveiling of gubernatorial running mates was fast approaching, Natembeya’s supporters had commenced speculations about who could be his deputy.

However, the outspoken former Rift Valley Regional Commissioner assured his supporters that he has faith in Mrs.Philemona who is a banker by profession.

Hon.Natembeya believes that his running mate’s wealth of experience in the banking and economic sector will play a fundamental role in serving the people of Transnzoia should they ascend to power.

On her part, Mrs.Philemona Bineah Kapkor thanked Natembeya and the DAP-K party for trusting in her and explained how she will apply her wealth of economic skills in minting useful social, economic and development programs for the netizens.

“It is going to be an inclusive government .So, we request for your support from all communities within Transnzoia and when we start working,we believe we are going to hit the ground running and turn around everything,” said Mrs.Philemona.

Natembeya joins the list of gubernatorial candidates who have fronted female running mates in a quest to woo female voters.

Transnzoia governor Patrick Khaemba is serving his second and last term thus the race to succeed him has taken center stage.

Apparently, Natembeya’s closest rival is Kiminini MP Dr.Chris Wamalwa who is vying on a Ford Kenya party ticket under DP Ruto’s Kenya Kwanza coalition.

The DAP-K party is salivating for five gubernatorial seats (Transnzoia, Bungoma, Busia,Kisii and Migori) and the party secretary general Eseli Simiyu expressed confidence that DAP-K has what it takes to deliver the seats.

In the meantime, DAP-K’S Busia gubernatorial candidate Moses Mulomi picked Tom Ipomai as his deputy, Migori’s candidate John Pesa picked veteran journalist Matiko Bohoko as his deputy and engineer Josiah Maaga was picked to deputize Sam Ongeri in the Kisii gubernatorial showdown.

During the event, Devolution CS and Tongaren MP Eseli Simiyu capitalised on the occasion to laugh off the Kenya Kwanza pre-election agreement pact that was unveiled recently terming it inconsequential.
