Nzoia sugar company Primary school in Bungoma County is appealing for well-wishers to help improve school’s infrastructure.

This follows the increase of the number of pupils joining the school following its exemplary performance in just released Kenya Certificate of Primary Education results.

Speaking to Horizon News, the school head teacher madam Lydia Namisi observed that the current school population stands at 2,200 but the number of classrooms isn’t enough to cater for all of them.

“We are also appealing for funds to enable us put up a decent administration block, the current one is very small and congested hence a number of crucial offices like the bursar’s office has been scattered far from the main office & our pupils need a dining hall,” she said.

The learning institution which is found deep inside Nzoia sugar company farms lacks enough teachers hence those available are too much strained with the work loads.

“Our school has 36 teachers, 25 of them are employed by the Teachers Service Commission while 11 of them have been employed by the school’s Board of Management hence the need to have more teachers to reduce the work load,” said the head teacher.

The school which is a half boarding and a half day schooling credits itself of producing top students in the country who have since joined top national secondary schools.

“We are an academic giant when it comes to performance, our teachers, the board and the surbodinate staffs are all very supportive, we have to achieve even more good results if our infrastructure is improved,” she said.

Ms.Namisi added, “Discipline cannot be compromised in this school, we make sure that teachers are in class when needed and pupils are always strict in handling different subjects, this is the only way we will achieve good results,”.

So far the school posted a mean of 349.95 with 16 pupils scoring above 400 marks which has put the school on the academic map.

“In 2020 we produced a top boy nationally who is doing very well at Mang’u boys high school & we are confident we will even do better than the 2021 class because we are ready with our teachers” Head teacher added.

Board of management led by Chairman Collins Mukhongo has lauded the team work exhibited in the school towards common goal of achieving better results which has enabled majority of bright but needy pupils being enrolled on Bungoma County Scholarship scheme.

“As the chairman board of governors am proud of this school & as an alumni I undertake to give back to the society by making sure I offload the burden of  vulnerable families through networking with our county government under the leadership of Governor Wycliffe Wangamati.” he said.

The school head has 20 years experience serving & producing exemplary results the reason she was head hunted from Webuye SA primary school in Webuye west constituency with a sole aim of bolstering luminous future of Nzoia Primary school.
