Kakamega: Family in agony after Saudi Arabian based daughter dies mysteriously.

A family in Shikangania village, Kakamega central sub county is shading melancholic tears after their daughter died in peculiar circumstances in Saudi Arabia.

Horizon news has reliably confirmed that Lydia Ayila Amakobe flew to Saudi Arabia 9 months ago in an attempt to search for greener pastures.

Lydia who is the 3rd born child of Mzee Benson Amakobe had not informed her parents about her plan of flying to the Kingdom but later on communicated with them.

Lydia’s father says that he just got a call from a lady who knew his daughter and she told him that Lydia had been found dead in her room.

“As I speak to you at this moment, I don’t have any reliable Information about what happened to my daughter.All we know is that she’s dead.We have been informed that we need to raise Ksh. 1.2 million as a family to clear some of the bills she incurred,’ Mr.Benson Amakube narrated to journalists on Monday afternoon.

According to the family,Lydia had a video call with her ailing mother just a week ago and she sounded jovial as she agreed to send money for her 4 year old son’s school fees and family upkeep.

Her sisters told the media that during the video call, she was so bamboozled and distracted to learn how her diabetic mother had developed a scar on one of her legs.

The family has been thrown into a murk of disbelief and agony since they don’t understand what might have transpired to their loved one.

“We are struggling to raise some money but as a family we have been jolted by Lydia’s death.She was someone who could go out to look for a job to support us.What I didn’t know is that she could travel out of the country for a job,” Mr.Amakobe added.

The family is now appealing to the government via its relevant agencies to embrace a speedy investigation and come up with a detailed report of what befall Lydia.

News of Lydia’s demise seemed to complicate the health condition of her diabetic mother.

“We are so worried about her condition,she was rushed to hospital this morning to be attended to by the doctors because of the wound that has been troubling her for some time now,”said Mr.Amakobe, Lydia’s father.

The number of young women traveling to the Middle East for jobs is exponentially increasing despite several catastrophic incidents that have befallen a number of the girls in the Kingdom.

It is barely months after another young Kenyan lady who was working in Saudi Arabia died mysteriously barely a week after commencing her job.

A lady who refused to be recognized told horizon news that most women who go to Saudi Arabia end up suffering in the hands of their employers and in most cases, their travel documents are always consfiscated.

It is a societal bozo that is yet to be fully solved moreso by the minstry of foreign affairs along the relevant government agencies.

Unless an amicable solution is created, more young and innocent women will keep dying in complicated circumstances in the Kingdom.

Now the family of Lydia is appealing to the government and well wishers to aid them in raising the Ksh.1.2 million so as to air lift her remains back home for a decent send-off.

In the meantime, efforts by the family be to get in touch with the agent who connected Lydia to Saudi Arabia have ended up fruitless since the calls aren’t going through.
