Obucuun Snatch A Draw At Home Against Kekalet In Busia County League

Teso South champions, Obucuun FC snatched a 2-2 draw at home to Kekalet on Tuesday after a late goal in a thrilling Football Kenya Federation Busia County League match played at Among’ura Primary School.

Kekalet looked to be heading for an astonishing victory before Raymond Othieno scored an equalizer with five minutes to the end of the game to restore parity in the team that was facing defeat before their own fans.

Kekalet which made a debut in the Zone A 2020/2021 league season, defied odds with fine ball display that stunned the hosts.

The team that had earlier warned their opponents of their desire to snatch three crucial points showed their intentions clear when they took a deserved lead in the 7th minute through Ignatius Imotoka who found the back of the net with a clinical finish.

The goal inspired the visitng team which piled on more pressure that yielded fruits in the 30th minute with a second goal scored by Milton Isepe to see the visitors take a commanding 2-0 halftime lead against the Teso South champions.

Obucuun came back a rejuvenated side in the second half with fine crisp passes that paid off dividends in the 61st minute with Paul Orono making no mistake from close range.

The goal inspired the hosts which piled on more pressure resulting in the equalizer late into the game from Othieno.

Hosts Obuccun suffered a setback in the 74th minute after receiving a second caution for stopping a promising attack. He had four minutes earlier been yellow-carded for unsporting behaviour.

The draw saw Obucuun maintain their second position on the log with 15 points, two behind leaders, Asinge FC. Both teams have played eight matches.

Kamolo FC striker and last season top scorer, Eugene Okello Omudek alias AFOBE10 who watched the encounter praised centre referee, Duncan Omondi and his assistants, Stephen Mugabe and Joab Makokha for a job well done.

In the other match played on Tuesday, hosts Kiriko beat Esidende 2-0 at Kekalet Primary School to see them jump to eighth position of the 12-team Zone A league with 10 points. Esidende maintained their last position with five points.
