Liverpool subjected Manchester City to a pulsating defeat at Wembley stadium in London on Saturday evening.

It was the 2022 FA cup first semi final and Liverpool survived a late scare to outplay the citizens and won 3.2.

Liverpool needed just seven minutes to score after Ibrahima Konate headed home a corner kick.

The Reds were far much brilliant with Konate and Thiago Alcantara ruling the midfield with clinical passes and tackles.

Manchester City’s Belgian playmaker Kevin De Brune was on the bench and full back Kyle Walker was left out due to injury.

It gave Liverpool an edge over Pep Guardiola’s side.

A slight mistake by City’s inexperienced goalkeeper Zack Steffen gifted Sadio Mane a goal in the 17th minute to put Liverpool 2.0 up.

Steffen had been preferred to start ahead of City’s number one keeper Ederson Morales who played when the two sides drew 2.2 at Etihad in an epl tie last weekend.

It was quite an exhilarating first half and Liverpool looked set for victory.

Sadio Mane scored again just before the break after an excellent build up by Liverpool’s players.

It was a horrible start by City who commenced the second half on a high note.

Jack Grealish pulled one back for City in the early minutes of the second half.

Ibrahima Konate, Thiago Alcantara and Naby Keita were absolutely phenomenal in the Liverpool midfield and they denied City space.

City tried to threaten but in vain as Bernado Silva’s 92nd goal wasn’t enough to turn things be around.

Liverpool will now play their first FA cup final since losing to Chelsey in the 2012 final.

They last won the trophy after beating West Ham in the 2006 final.

They will face either Chelsea or Cristal Palace in the final since the two will play the last semi final on Sunday evening.

It is a history in the making for the reds as they look set to become the first English be side to win four trophies in one season (quadruple).

They have already won the carabao cup, are in the FA cup final, are in the champions league semi final against Villarreal and are second in EPL just a point behind leaders City with 7 games remaining.

“The first half was one of the best we ever played. We did all the right stuff,we scored in the right moments. We we’re outstanding, I loved each second of it.The second half started with the goal for Man City and then it opens up.The quality of City is insane. We respect City so much and it is so difficult to win against them ,but because we have these boys in our dressing room,we have a chance,” a delighted Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp told BBC Sport after the game.

Liverpool’s next game is against Man Utd at Anfield on Tuesday.
