Kakamega senator Cleophas Malala has expressed confidence that the Luhya community will control 30%of DP Ruto’s government should he ascend to power in August.
“We sat down with DP Ruto two weeks ago and he committed that he is going to give the Luhya nation 30% of his government,” said Malala.
Speaking at a campaign rally in Malinya town, Ikolomani sub-county on Thursday, Malala noted that both Musalia Mudavadi, Moses Wetangula, Bonny Khalwale along other Kenya Kwanza lieutenants witnessed the pact.
“We are not in Kenya Kwanza because we are psychofans,no.We are in Kenya Kwanza because we negotiated. We sat down with William Ruto,we told him we are not just going to get into government but we want to form government with him,” he added.
The outspoken lawmaker underlined the fact that the Luhya leaders who are affiliated to Kenya Kwanza are sure of what they want.
“This is the description of the 30%:Out of the 21 Cabinet Secretaries, at least 7 will be Luhyas, we will also get 15 permanent secretaries,13 Chief Adminstrative Secretaries,185 heads of parastatals because we have 782 parastatals in Kenya. We must get a share of our people,” Malala yelled.
He pleased with Luhyas to cast their votes wisely to ensure that they are part of the next government.
The senator also dismissed the Azimio la Umoja’s presidential hopeful Raila Odinga and challenged those Luhyas who are supporting him.
“If you look in the Azimio line up, Raila is the presidential candidate, and possibly Kalonzo Musyoka the running mate and they are planning to give the prime minister’s slot to Muhoho Kenyatta, the brother to Uhuru. So in Raila’s outfit, Luhyas will get space after 30 years because both Raila, Kalonzo and Muhoho must each complete 10 years,” he noted.
Malala maintained that the welfare of the Luhya community is his first priority.
He even noted that incase Raila adjusts his deal with the Luhya he can even shelve from Kenya Kwanza to Azimio.
Malala together with former senator Khalwale are the notable key DP Ruto’s hit men in Kakamega county.
The sentiments come amid heated political temperatures across Kakamega county as the battle to succeed governor Wicliffe Oparanya takes shape.
Malala will be battling it out with ODM’S Fernandez Barasa who political pundits have pointed as Oparanya’s preferred choice.
He dismissed his political nemesis who had laughed off the notion that DP Ruto will gift Mulembe nation 30% of his government.
Kakamega county will be undoubtedly a hotbed of political battles as both the Kenya Kwanza and Azimio la Umoja outfits scramble for the Mulembe votes.
