Muungano, Asing’e Top Respective Zones As Busia County League Enters Sixth Week

Muungano FC and Asinge took pole positions in Zone B and A respectively as the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Busia County League entered the sixth week with 12 matches spread across the county attended by hundreds of fans.

Muungano’s 1-0 victory against Young Muslims on Saturday has seen them consolidate their Zone B lead with 16 points from six matches. They have won five games, drawn one and lost nil.

Asinge beat Musokoto 2-0 at Asinge Primary School with goals from Collins Emusugut and Wilberforce Wabwire to see them top Zone A with 11 points from six matches, having won three matches, drawn two and lost one.

Obucuun are second with 10 points from four matches while Mungatsi are third with 10 points but with inferior goal aggregate.

Itoya FC showed their intentions clear when they upset Western Kings 2-0 away at Igula Primary School to take second position behind Muungano with 15 points.

Itoya have played six matches with five victories, zero daw and one loss against Muungano FC which forced them to go back to the drawing board.

Young Tiger’s bid to consolidate their second position were shattered by Spiders who beat them 2-0 before their partisan supporters at Nyakwaka Primary School play ground.

Tigers who were second on the log with 12 points a head of Itoya on goal aggregate were given a rude shock by Spiders with goals from Geoffrey Ouma in the second minute and Mark Chitai in 41st minute.

At Mudembi Primary School,hosts California were awarded three points and two goals without kicking the ball after Butula Eagles failed to honour the match.

The “victory” has pushed California’s points tally to 11 from five matches, having registered three wins, two draws with no loss since the start of the league season that entered the sixth week at the weekend.

Kamuriai survived a scare before overcoming Lupida 3-2 in a charged match played at Kamuriai Primary School on Sunday.

John Opuko put Kamuria into the lead after 24 minutes from a penalty spot before Isaac Imetur conceded an own goal in the 33rd minute to see the two teams tie 1-1 at half time.

Billy Barasa made it 2-1 for the hosts in the 60th minute before Obed Masika struck the equaliser in the 65th minute. Kamuriai’s winning goal was scored by Marvin Ikadi a minute later.

Namwitsula FC and Buradi drew 1-1 in the match played at Namwitsula Primary School.

Namwitsula’s goal was scored by Godwine Chesa in the 51st minute. Buradi levelled the score through
Wilberforce Maloba in the 87th minute.

Centre Referee Jude Ekasiba sent off Buradi Team Manager, Peter Odour in the 24th minute for Violent conduct.
