Bungoma County Government Health executive Dr Anthony Walela has rubbished Senate Speaker donation of medical equipments to Ndalu Health Centre.

Speaking in his office in Bungoma town on Friday, Dr Walela has termed donations as a way of Lusaka looking for soft landing in Tongaren Constituency.

Dr.Walela indicated that the medical equipment donated by Senate speaker Kenneth Lusaka through Sport pesa at the facility might be of no value to the residents of Ndalu.

“We are not against donations as a ministry but we are not going to entertain a situation where a person wants to take advantage of residents who are not well varsed with the health system to get political bonga points.” Walela said.

Dr.Walela argued that Lusaka is third in command according to the pecking orders adding that it was laughable for him donating invaluable Sh2 M medical equipment when he had capacity to network with well wishers to fund a hospital in the region adding that Ndalu health Center does not require 10 delivery beds.

“If proper consultation were done with our technical officers we could have advised accordingly and again our medical engineers haven’t certified the equipment to ascertain its workability, nobody will be allowed to play political gimmicks with the lives of our people.” Walela added.

This comes after tension was high at Wanjia grounds in Ndalu following unconfirmed reports that goons had planned to disrupt the function that was attended by Speaker Lusaka & Bungoma Women rep Catherine Wambinga,  sentiments that were dismissed by the CEC Walela adding that there was no reason for interfering with the function.

Dr.Walela said that in the past four years, Bungoma County government through ministry of Health has renovated more than 10 health centers & equipping them with drugs and staff a move that has bolstered the health sector in the county.

Speaker Kenneth Lusaka is vying for the Governor position to dislodge the incumbent Governor Wycliffe Wafula Wangamati in an anticipated hotly contested race on August 9 2022.

Other aspirants include Businessman Zackaria Barasa and Former Communication Authority Director General Francis Wangusi salivating for the similar position.
