Azimio Wins Big In Kakamega As 9 MPs Are Now Officially Rooted To The Outifit

Azimio La Umoja political camp has harvested big in Kakamega county and now 9 out of the 12 MPS in the county are firmly in affiliated to Azimio’s campaign trail.

The latest to decamp are Navakholo’s Emmanuel Wangwe and his Ikolomani counterpart Bernard Shinali.

Wangwe who doubles up as the chief whip in the national assembly has been lobbying for a Raila presidency after fleeing DP Ruto’s brigade.

He however formalized his entry into ODM during an Azimio campaign rally in Navakholo on Sunday afternoon.

“You’ve seen it, baba I talked to these people and they told me that I should have done it earlier. So ,I am inside ODM party. We shall work together with Baba to get victory,” Wangwe noted.

Wangwe is serving his second term and he was elected on a Jubilee party ticket in 2017.

The defection implies that he will be defending his seat via an ODM ticket should he get the nomination certificate.

Ikolomani MP Bernard Shinali also assured his support for ODM and explained that he was inside ODM to stay and will give all his efforts to ensure Azimio clinches victory.

At the same event,  Butere MP Tindi Mwale who defected to ODM just a day earlier expressed his commitment to stay in Azimio.

“I was once in ANC and when I see Musalia cheating people, I really get distracted, he was bought by DP Ruto and Wetangula given for free  as a bonus. We can’t fit on a wheelbarrow. We have assured Baba all seats in Kakamega,” said Mwale.

Lugari MP Ayub Savula congratulated Wangwe and Shinali for joining ODM.”You saw me I was the first one to join Azimio and I welcome you, we are now okay,” he said.

Other lawmakers affiliated to Azimio from Kakamega are Justus Kizito(Shinyalu), Johnson Manya(Mumias West), Oscar Nabulindo(Matungu), Titus Khamala (Lurambi) and Christopher Aseka (Kwisero).

It implies that out of the 12 lawmakers of Kakamega, only three are not in Azimio la Umoja.

Bernard Washiali(Mumias East), Malulu Injendi?Malava) and Enock Kibunguchi(Likuyani).

With Governor Wicliffe Oparanya and women representative Elsie Muhanda firmly rooted in ODM, it is evident how Azimio is gradually grabbing Kakamega county by it’s horns prior to the August 9th polls.

ODM leader Raila Odinga expressed confidence of clinching victory and congratulated the MPS for choosing to stand with him.

“This Wangwe is my great friend , polite, humble and inteiligent. We talked with him when he wanted to be the National Assembly Chief Whip and I told Uhuru that this man is fit.He has done a great job and he told me he is ready to walk by with ODM,” Raila said.

Raila accused DP Ruto for making false promises to Kenyans and vowed to transform Kenya within the first 100 days of his presidency.

Other Azimio lieutenants present at the Navakholo rally were Homa Bay women representative Gladys Wanga, Suna East MP Junet Mohammed, former presidential aspirant Peter Kenneth, among others.

The Azimio campaign trail is scheduled to traverse Lugari and Likuyani subcounties on Monday.
