Malaba Central Ward Member of the County Assembly, Hon Benard Ibella Papa revealed today that he doesn’t regret working with Busia Governor, H.E Sospeter Ojaamong on matters development.
The MCA said despite their party affiliations, he chose to work with H.E Ojaamong, a move that has paid off dividends with the border town of Malaba realising numerous development.
” Our cordial working relationship saw the Govenor assent to the bill that led to the creation of Malaba Municipality which will help spur the economic development of four wards under the municipality, including Malaba Central, Malaba North, Malaba South and Amukura West,” he said.
He added:” Even as I endeavour to face the eletorate to give me second mandate of leading them, I laud the Governor for having given MCAs an enabling environment to discharge their duties without interference.”
Hon Papa was addressing the press after distributing 100 iron sheets to 10 widows and vulnerable groups across the ward including Akiriamet, Amoni, Royco, Ikapolok, Achunet and Amagoro.
Despite the Governor’s efforts to award Malaba municipality status, the MCA regretted the move by some people who don’t have the interests of residents at heart for moving to court to delay its commissioning.
“The disbursement of the funds to jumpstart the operations of the municipality would have created jobs to over 500 youths. The acts of a few people to delay funding should be condemned,” he said.
Papa also urged his worthy opponents to abandon the culture of buying youth with a glass of changaa to heckle others instead of selling their manifestos to the electorate.
He went on:” You vote to help such vulnerable groups and to ensure good roads, availability of water, children go to school, youths acquire jobs and service delivery in various institutions is upheld instead of receiving a bribe to vote for a leader.”
