By Reuben Olita

The new acting Emorimor Papa Paul Sande Emolot has named a new cabinet, a day after being appointment to oversee the operations of the Union pending the elections of the substantive Iteso cultural leader to replace the late Augustine Lemukol Osuban.

Papa Emolot named Fredrick Adungo from Eastern Region Kenya as the Deputy Prime Minister, replacing the late Gabriel Itella who held the position for five years.

His Highness Emolot also honoured Kenya with the appointment of Mr Peter Ongaria as the Minister for Security. In the previous ICU cabinet, Ongaria was Deputy Minister, International Relations and the Diaspora.

Adungo thanked Papa Emolot for the honour accorded to him, pledging to promote the ICU cultural ideals.

“I am not new in the Union. I was in the team that invited the late Papa Augustine Emorimor to Nairobi in 2006 where he helped construct a cultural village for the Iteso which is the leading revenue generator for the government owing to many tourists who visit the village to learn the Iteso culture,” he said.

Emolot also replaced the Prime Minister, Augustine Omare Okurut with seasoned lawyer, Ivan Engoru who also retained the seat of Attorney General.
