Busia Governor Sospeter Ojaamong has revealed that he is still making consultations on his plans to vie for the Teso South Parliamentary seat in the August 9th, 2022 general elections.

Addressing the press at Obekai in Chakol South Ward when he met members of the Goria Lukekekidipat clan, the Governor said he is traversing the constituency to seek views of the electorates before making informed decision.

“During my interaction with the residents, I found out that there is alot that is needed to steer the constituency to greater heights instead of only relying on Constituency Development Fund,” the Governor said.

On the Gubernatorial contest, the County Chief revealed that a meeting will be convened to address the need to elect a person who will embrace unity instead of causing division among communities.

The Goria clan resolved to back the Governor’s parliamentary bid, appreciating his efforts to absorb five members of the clan drawn from Okame, Aterait, Ngelechom, Obekai and Amaase areas.

Those employed at the county include village administrators, Stephen Barasa (Okaame) and Philip Omuruon (Ngelechom), Rose Apalaat (ward administrator) and James Emusugut (Nurse).

Emusugut lauded the Governor for seconding him and 53 others health workers from AphiasPlus and absorbing them on permanent and pensionable basis.

In a show of solidaity with his clan members, former Teso South MP, Mary Emaase chief campaigner, Leonard Emusugut alias Omigo declared his support for Ojaamong in his bid to capture the area parliamentary seat.

Margaret Chale, a former nominated MCA in the first Assembly said she will contest the Chakol South MCA seat, having contested in 2017 but lost to Hon.Okodoi Maskini.

H.E Ojaamong’s chief campaigner since his first stint as MP in 2002, Collins Ausi pledged to continue backing Ojaamong, urging the community not to be fed with a pack of blatant lies.
