PHOTOS: Consecration And Installation Of Bishop Mark Kadima As The Bishop Of The Catholic Diocese Of Bungoma


The process to ordained and install Bishop Mark Kadima as the Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Bungoma is ongoing now.

The consecration of Bishop Kadima is taking place at St Mary’s Kibabii High School in Kanduyi constituency Bungoma County.

Several leaders including Senate speaker Ken Lusaka, Bungoma governor Wycliffe Wangamati, Democratic Action Party leader who is also Kanduyi Mp Wafula Wamunyinyi have already arrived and are in attendance.

In attendance also are Kiminini Mp Chris Wamalwa, Kabuchai Mp Majimbo Kalasinga and Bungoma Woman Rep Catherine Wambilianga.

Several other leaders from across the country including thousands of Catholic faithfuls are expected to attend and grace the occasion.

Until his appointment, Bishop Elect Kadima served as Vatican’s envoy in South Sudan. He has previously served in South Angola and Ghana. He holds a PhD in Canon Law.

Pope Francis appointed Rev.Kadima (57) to take over Bungoma diocese from Bishop Norman King’oo who was transferred to Machakos diocese three years ago.

Kakamega Bishop Joseph Obanyi has been in charge of Bungoma diocese in acting capacity until the recent changes.

Reverend Kadima was appointed Bungoma diocese Bishop on December 14, 2021 as was published in the L’osservatore Romano, the daily newspaper of Vatican City.

Kadima was born on April 30, 1964 in Kholera, Matungu Sub-County in Kakamega County.

He was ordained a priest for the Catholic Diocese of Kakamega on October 2,1993.
